Ivy Baldwin is a NY-based choreographer and founder of Ivy Baldwin Dance. Since 1999, she’s created 19 works for the company. Commissioning organizations include BAM / Next Wave Festival; The Joyce Theater; New York Live Arts; Abrons Arts Center; Dance Theater Workshop; The Philip Johnson Glass House (New Canaan, CT); Manitoga/Russel Wright Design Center (Garrison, NY); Dixon Place; LaMaMa; E.T.C.; The Wooden Floor (Santa Ana, CA); and 3 commissions from The Chocolate Factory Theater.

Baldwin has received fellowships and residencies from the Guggenheim Foundation (Choreography, ‘14); Bogliasco Foundation (Italy); ArtistNe(s)t (Romania); MacDowell; Yaddo; The Yard; and Marble House. AIR positions include BAM; Gibney DiP; Chashama; Abrons Arts Center; CPR; Movement Research; Manitoga; JCAL; Snug Harbor Cultural Center; BAX; 92Y; Kaatsbaan; MASS MoCA; Mount Tremper Arts; LMCC; BAX; and NY State Dance Force.

Baldwin has received funding from the Jerome Foundation; William and Karen Tell Foundation; NYFA; FCA Emergency Grants; Trust for Mutual Understanding; Puffin Foundation; Dance/ NYC, and others.

Her work has been presented by Tanz im August (Germany); Dans Contemporan International Dance Festival (Romania); REDCAT (CA); Irvine Barclay Theater (CA); American Dance Institute (MD); Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago (IL); Appel Farm Arts Center (NJ); The Painted Bride (PA); Lincoln Center Out of Doors; Symphony Space; 92Y; New Museum; Danspace Project; and P.S. 122. Additional commissions include original works for Same Planet Performance Projects (Chicago, IL).

Baldwin has held positions at Bard College; The New School; NYU Tisch; North Carolina School of the Arts; Rutgers University; Hunter College; Barnard College; Iowa State; Long Island University; and BAM Education Department.

Since 1999, Baldwin has collaborated closely with visual artists, including Anna Schuleit (MacArthur Fellow), Wade Kavanaugh and Stephen B. Nguyen (Ellis-Beauregard Fellows) and most recently, Ukrainian artist Inna Babaeva at The Chocolate Factory. In 2018, Keen [No.2] received a Bessie Nomination for Outstanding Production Design with a set by Kavanaugh and Nguyen.
